Siyu Chen is a tenured Associate Professor (PhD supervisor) and Assistant Dean at the Institute for Economic and Social Research, Jinan University. She serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics and is a Fellow of the Global Labor Organization. Her research spans labor economics, the digital economy, and household finance. Her work has been published in leading journals including the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Nature Mental Health, and the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, as well as top Chinese journals such as Management World and World Economy. Her research has also been featured by major outlets including The Economist, Vox, Vox China, the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Bloomberg, Sina Finance, and Phoenix Finance. She has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General and Young Scientists Programs) and the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province (General Program). She has received honors including First Prize in the Guangdong Provincial Undergraduate Young Faculty Teaching Competition and the Second Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award.
