Emmanuel Orkoh has completed a PhD in Economics at the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University, South Africa. He holds a collaborative Master of Philosophy degree in Economics from the University of Cape Coast and African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) with concentration on International Economics, Monetary Economics and Health Economics. He obtained a BA in Economics from University of Cape Coast and certificates in Economic Analysis of Non-Tariff Measures, Trade and Poverty, Trade and Gender, and Trade Empirics using STATA from United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Virtual Institute. He also holds certificates in WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and Regional Trade Facilitation Rules, as well as Multilateral Trade Negotiations: Tips and Techniques from United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission.

Emmanuel’s research interests lie in the area of trade, gender and health. He is particularly interested in gender welfare and distributional impacts of trade, health, and labour market policies in Ghana and other Sub-Saharan African countries. He has extensive knowledge of the use of a number of econometric tools (including STATA, and GAMS) for data management and research in applied economics.

Emmanuel is a member of organizations and academic institutions such as the African Growth and Development Policy Modeling Consortium (AGRODEP), Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (BITSS), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Virtual Institute, United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and International Health Economists Association (IHEA), Toronto, Canada. Over the years, he has worked with both national institutions and international organizations including the University of Cape Coast, World Trade Organization (WTO), Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development (UONGOZI Institute), Global Reach of University of Michigan, USA and National consultant for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He is currently on a short term assignment with the International Organization for Migration (IOM)
