Janice is Associate Dean of Arts and Professor of Economics and Econometrics at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg Canada. She holds a PhD in economics from Washington University in St. Louis, and recently completed serving as Chair of the Canadian Women Economists Committee and as an executive board member of the Canadian Economics Association.

Janice’s research interests include family migration and proximity, women’s labour force status, economic demography and related labour topics. She has published in journals such as the Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Labor Economics, Review of Economics of the Household, Canadian Public Policy, Feminist Economics, PLOS One, Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy, and the Journal of Urban Economics. Since July 2024, she has been an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics.
