I am an assistant professor of economics (2020- ) at Xiamen University. I earned a Ph.D. in management (2020) from Renmin University of China, and a B.A. in finance and a B.S. in mathematics (2014) from Southwest University. I was a visiting scholar at Michigan State University (2018-2019) and at Nanyang Technological University (2017-2018).
My research interests are in the fields of development economics, agricultural and resource economics, political economy, economic history, and law and economics. I was deeply attracted to the Neoinstitutional Economics, a passion that led me to use (theory-based) causal inference methods to studying a variety of topics ranging from misallocation of land and labor, productivity analysis, comparative analysis of culture and institutions, government organizational designs and policy designs, etc.
