I am a Tenured Full Professor of Economics at Hanyang University, Seoul and Erica Campus, South Korea. I am originally from India (Indian Citizen). I did my Degrees at Jadavpur University (Kolkata), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, and then Monash University, Melbourne, Australia and University of Florida, USA.
I was Researcher and Fellow at UNU-WIDER, Finland, University of Antwerp (Erasmus), and IMF (Washington DC), apart from few others.
I am a development economist with particular interest in exploring the issues of growth and development in the context of the economies already integrated into the global trade and those, pursuing their efforts to catch up with the forces of globalization. With the onslaught of trade reforms and structural changes affecting many countries, economic growth and development problems are inseparable from the issues of international trade and commercial policy. Under the broad spectrum mentioned above, my specific research interest emphasizes on the issues related to: (i) Growth and Technological Change; (ii) Trade, International Economic Integration and Transmission of Technological Innovation; (iii) Human Capital Formation, Skill Acquisition and Adoption of Technology; (iv) Nexus of Trade, Technology and Environment in the wake of International Environmental Policy and Laws regulating trade flows. This has some common ground with my teaching interests also. Currently, I am interested in researching on the following thematic issues:
(i) Issues related to Globalization, 4th Industrial Revolution, Institutions and Development; (ii) Impact of 3IR/4IR (Automation/Robotics/Additive Manufacturing in value-chain slicing and its impact on labor market, such as blue-collar jobs. (ii) Emerging Climate Crisis, the scope for Bio-fuels to replace fossil fuels, and Climate change policies.;(iii) Sustainable, Inclusive Growth and Development:; (iv) Trade in Intermediates, Skill-biased Technological Progress, and Outsourcing; (v). Practical policy oriented analysis of such issues is primary motive of my research.:
