I am a doctoral student in the department of Economics, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. My areas of research interest include development economics, food insecurity, inequality, labor, and migration. Currently, I am working on my Ph.D. dissertation comprised of empirical essays on household food insecurity in Pakistan related to the labor market, disability, and Covid-19. One of the essays from my thesis proposes to investigate how occupational inequality defines household food insecurity experiences in Pakistan. The study intends to find out the socioeconomic classification of occupations in Pakistan and expects that restructuring the labor market can play a more important role to resolve the problem of food insecurity than social assistance programs. I was selected as a member of the 2022-23 GLO VirtYS program.
