Dr. Bagis has a merit-based scholarship funded multidisciplinary B.Sc. from ITU (2006), a fully-funded and theoretically focused M.A. in Economics from Sabanci University (2009) and a fully-funded Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of California (2014). Dr. Bagis is grateful to the Turkish Government for education abroad fellowship, the Turkish TUBITAK, UC Regents, Fulbright, TEV, ITU and Sabanci University for all the awards, scholarships and financial support they have provided throughout his education. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Bagis has had private sector experiences at various international and domestic companies and institutions including Akbank, Turkish Central Bank, Yapı Kredi Bank, THY, Globalwonks, Monarch and family companies. He has taught his own classes at prominent universities including University of California Berkeley and Sabanci University. His analysis and working papers are published by various prominent institutions including the SETA Foundation and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ SAM. Dr. Bagis have, so far, had an extensive experience as an academic, economist, strategist and consultant at various universities and companies in Turkey and the USA. Since his undergraduate years, he has consistently focused on Turkey’s macro and financial instability and the efficacy of policies at the discretion of policymakers. His research interests lie in international finance, macroeconomics, economic policies and political economy. He has recently been interested in theoretical and practical entrepreneurship area as well. Dr. Bagis is currently a visiting Asst. Prof. at UC Berkeley Economics Department, since January 2018.
