I am a Professor of Economics at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Previously, I served as a Professor of Economics at Tel Aviv University and before that, was a tenured faculty member at the Department of Economics at the Hebrew University, where I also obtained my Ph.D. in 2002. After receiving my doctorate, I spent a year as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at MIT. In 2009-2010, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. I’m also a Research Fellow at the CEPR and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Population Economics. Between 2017 and 2023, I held the position of a Voting Member of the Monetary Committee of the Bank of Israel.

My broad interest is in demographic change, gender differences, and their interaction with economic growth. Recently I’ve been involved in three research agendas. First, I examined the interaction between income inequality and fertility choice through the marketization of childcare. Secondly, I examine how political preferences shape gender differences among top executives. Finally, I examine how changes in bargaining power within the household affect fertility choice and investment in children’s education.
